Question

Some one has to know if a 318-360 intake will fit a 273. I know the MP intake will, but will a holly or an edlebrock fit also?

I contacted a tech at Edelbrock but got a voice mail and needless to say, he never called me back.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mark

All smallblock LA engines manifolds will bolt up with stock heads. Whether it will be good for your application is another thing.

Actually, the early 273's had a different angle to the intake bolts if I am not mistaken. This came up in another topic recently. I'm sure someone knows the actual years of this odd 273 intake.

Elwenil's right about the early 273's. Only the angle of the bolt holes is changed, however, so you can bolt a later type intake to the early heads if you wallow out the bolt holes in the intake manifold a bit. I believe that only the 64 and 65 were like this (and maybe the 66, I'm not sure). 67 and later 273 heads were identical to 318 heads. Edelbrock used to make a high rise dual plane intake specifically for the early type 273's and you can still find one at a swap meet every now and then. Can't remember the number.

A Holley or Edelbrock small block mopar intake will bolt to anything a Mopar Performance small block intake will bolt to. You can physically bolt a 340/360 type intake to a 273, but the manifold ports will be bigger than the head ports which isn't too good for best performance. An Edelbrock Performer intake matches pretty well to 273-318 heads.

The '64-'65 273 had a different bolt angle and size of bolts. Other than that, the 340-360 manifold will bolt on.

Yes, he is right. The 64-65 were different and it is not worth it to make the intake fit a different set of heads for vice versa. Good Luck.
