I would like to know also ,I'm getting ready to swap a1978 aspen 318bellhousing and 833 od into a 1973 duster(was auto /6)does the z-bar from the f body 318 fit the A body with a 340? also does the shift linkage( 4speed) need different linkage because of trans crossmember.

thanks much

Just a guess on my part, but I think the cross-member won't make any difference. It's still there on F-J-M cars, just doesn't have any t-bars anchored to it. The z-linkage might fit as well, since the later cars were essentially re-worked A-bodies. You'll prob. need to mock it up in any case.
I have no info on the O.P.'s question, however. Sorry.

Check out this site for a lot of info about the A833 manual gearboxes, just because it says slant six don't let that put you off.

No, we need more information...

What we can say is that if you use a particular bellhousing, the clutch and flywheel that came with that bellhousing will work.

We can also mention bearing retainer base diameters, these are important as they align the transmission to the engine.

Is the 'NP45' a low-gear truck transmission? I don't know this one.

Glad to see you are still around Ray, haven't heard from you lately, thought of your vast knowledge on the 833's when this thread was started.

Too busy planning my 'wrecking yard crawl' across the USA...

And other things, of course. But mainly my main computer's monitor has died and I'm only using my laptop and I haven't had a chance to think about this forum until today.

Well a buddy of mine got his 833 OD out of a F body and used it in his 71 318 Duster for many a year till he sold the car a few years back. I have one (833 OD) that I'm thinking about using in my Javelin behind the 360. All I have right now is the tranny, but if I can be of any help just holler!
