thermoquad Orings under the jets
Anyone know where I can get a dozen or so of the "rubber" O rings that mount between the phenolic Thermoquad body and the brass jets? Today's gas is terrible on the rubber compound. thx

Company is called Carbs Unlimited Well seals are part #G902, 2.95 a pair. I have been running a tq for about 2 years on Massachusetts gas, which is 10% ethanol without noticeable problems. You might want to check the epoxy under the main jets. It sometimes fails and needs to be re-epoxied. Also critical for the well seals and the rest of the tq is torquing in factory sequence and re-torquing after engine has been run, like we used to have to do for head bolts. Hope this helps. TQ is a fantastic carb, but hard to learn. |

What kind of problems do you have when these seals fail? My thermoquad has been loading up. I noticed that there is fuel dripping from the boosters at idle. Ran great last year, but been picky this year.

What are the boosters? I can't think of what that is in a tq.
When the well seals fail, it runs rich and gas can pour out of anywhere. But is is fairly unusual for the seals to fail in normal use. More often, it is one or both of the needles and/or seats. Or a float might have gotten a pinhole if brass, or have gotten heavy if plastic. Or the old seals were re-used on a rebuild. |

The factory service manual calls it a Booster Venturi. But yes I'm thinking bad needle and seat or floats. Ran good last year, this year not so much.

All right. I think you are referring to the secondary venturi. Gas coming out of there would indicate float and/or needle/seat problem. The carb is swimming in fuel. That would be a safety issue, too.

I might be hi-jacking this thread, but I have a different problem with my TQ - it starts fine cold, but needs full throttle for warm start. Drives fine. Went through it on the bench - everything is OK (needed to change tops for another reason) but this hot-start issue remains unsolved. Squirters work fine, needle yoke is 2 turns off the bottom, everything else baselined by the book. Any ideas?

Check to make sure that choke is not closing after you shut it off. Full throttle unloads the choke enough to get it started. Once it starts the vacuum canister pulls choke open. You might not be getting enough heat to the choke well and/or you might not have voltage to the electric part of the choke heater.
