Junkyard build
I am presently assembling parts for a 318 junkyard build.I plan on using a Howards cam that I had in my 360 12 years ago.The cam has been stored in its original hard case with ample assembly lube on it.I have a new set of lifters for it so I should not have any problems should I? It is a mild grind at 212/216 duration @.50 with .447/.447 lift on a 112 lsa. This cam with 302 heads and an Offy Dual port intake and T-Quad is what is planned.

Hi Eggman, if the cam was lubed and properly stored, you won't have any problems. Remove the grease, clean and dry it up. Give it a good visual inspection, and if it looks ok, you can also run a cotton ball along each cam and see if it "grabs". If little pieces of the cotton ball are left behind, then you should think about getting it polished with a cloth buffer pad.
Good luck! |
