Default No way to recover a password anymore on this forum?

After cleaning one of my PC's, I need to re-logon to the forum and 9000 years later I forgot my password. CLicking on the "Recover Password" link which is supposed to send you a link to reset it, nothing comes in the email and I can't change the email address (which is still valid) or password in the User CP tab without the old password.

Gripe

I know your frustration. Had the same bs happen to me on another mopar forum recently.

After resetting my password in July, I attempted to login with the same e-mail address and updated password a few weeks ago. The email with a "temporary password" (consisting of 15 characters) allowed me to log in and change my password. I logged out.

When I attempted to log in with the new password; once again they had no member matching the email and password entered. There was no response to the e-mail sent to one of that sites Administrators.

I'm not a computer geek but I too wonder why it has to be so tough to reset a password.

I had a hard drive replaced and a software update done on an i-Mac since the last time I visited that site. Maybe that is causing the grief...

The issue here was that the "I can't remember my password" link during logon did not and still doesn't return an email to reset the password. I know going into User CP the email address I have in my profile is legit. And you need the old password in User CP to change anything. An IM to a known and active (even if he is the last one) moderator got a reply of "I'll pass it on."
Having been involved in IT since the late 70's and having set up many sites myself, I know a few things and was able to get the email address to the owner and technical contact of the board who, even though he was on a cruise, read my email, manually reset my password, replied to my email with the new password which allowed me to log back in and reset everything to something I'll actually remember (for the moment anyway).
The person who helped me went above and beyond, but if you going to leave a message board on autopilot you need to make sure it functions, which this one at the moment doesn't.
I wonder how many old timers try and get back and can't for just the same reason.
