Question

Looking for best fit street headers for my 65 Satellite 440, 4 speed w/power steering. 440 has 292/509 cam, 10.5:1 comp, stock heads, mid 1960s Edelbrock offset dual quad intake and holley 600s. I'm thinking about Schumacher tri-y's based on add in Mopar Action. I'd like to reduce starter overheat,burnt plug boots,and have better access to plugs. looking for recommendation.

I have a 65 coronet with PS and a 440. I use Hedman headers, with 1 3/4 -> 3" collectors.

The heat the starter takes is probably pretty bad with these -- I just lost a starter last week and assume it was a cooked motor (the solenoid was OK). These headers are a bitch to put on also.. putting the drivers side header in requires pulling the motor up and even then quite a bit of wiggling.

Also, these do NOT WORK with the MP mini starter which I tried to install last weekend -- but I am going to pull the header out and move one of the tubes over to clear the starter; and this starter I am going to WRAP!

I know Hooker has headers for this (actually not sure if its for Power steering or not..) -- have not heard of Schumachers.

Good Luck

Thanks for the info.I reviewed most of the posting in moparchat and I haven't heard of any large tube headers that are painless.
Schumachers were advertzed in April 2000 Mopar Action. They're advertized as "designed for street use and light competion, easy to install with engine in place, allow access to spark plugs, their routing over the starter also allows for easy access and prevents heat from destroying the starter. Try-y design (1 5/8" primary, 2" seconday, 2 1/2" collectors, 16 gage tube with 3/8" flanges for 63-65 B-Bodies. hand-built and fit tested before shipped." Cost $500. Phone (206) 364-7151 Seattle WA.
