Small Block Rods
Anyone have experience with SCAT or Eagle connecting rods?
I'm looking to build a project in the 4-500 hp range running to the 7,000-7,500 rpm range. I have a set of stock 645 rods, but by the time I bush them, replace the bolts, and resize them. It maybe more cost effective to just go with SCAT I beam rods. They say they are rated for 700hp. |

I have Eagle SIR6123CB rods in my '64 318 poly. It is balanced with Ross custom forged pistons that are ceramic and moly coated. Etc, Etc, Etc.. They were installed in '06 and I have used 3 different cams since then with them. My last 284 deg cam would spin it up to 7500 when racing. 8000 rpm didn't work though as I threw the fan belts and two pushrods! Whoops. Everything is holding together fine. I like the rods.

Go with a 4340 series rod if your going to turn 7000 and up. the SIR rods will not last above 6500 a long time, we air on the side of safety. that my 2 cents.
