Question

I am going to swap my 1973 emmissions-type gas tank(4-vent tubeson tank) with 5/16" fuel line for a 1970 non-emissions tank and 3/8" fuel line. I was wondering if someone could scan a picture of the 1970 tank configuration with the types of vent tube configurations they had. I need to know how to set-up the new vent tube for the tank. Anyone done this swap? any other advice? Jeff.

Why not just cap off the emissions vents and swap out the sender? It sure would be a lot easier and cheaper.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the dimensions are going to be different between the 1970 and 1973 tank.

Well, I would have gone that route, but my old tank sufferred from a severe case of the rusties and was putting so much rust scale through my fuel system that it was plugging my fuel filters. Also, some butcher had hacked off the ECS and vent lines. Everything else I've heard and read is that the tanks are interchangeable. It is just the venting that is different. Anyone have experience with a 1970 tank replacement?

Default GAS TANK

DO IT! THE TANK HAS THE SAME DIMENTIONS!

I DID THE SAME TO MY CHALLENGER! UNLESS YOU WANT IT TO BE 100% STOCK, GO WITH THE NON EMISSIONS. MAKE SURE YOUR FILLER NECK HAS A VENT TUBE!

Yes, a 1970 and 1973 Challenger had the same dimensions. He is talking about a Charger. I am pretty sure that the tank changed in 1971, when the body was redesigned.

Also, a 1970 Charger tank will NOT work in a later Charger as the filler neck is not in the same place.

Jack's Auto Parts is a good place to buy from. He can tell you if the 1970 B-body (not the Charger) tank will interchange. If not, the correct tank is the same price. Then all that you need to do is cap off the emissions ports.

Sorry guys, I forgot to mention that my gas tank swap is for a 1973 Cuda. I just need to know how to run the 1970 style vent line or the tank.

For some reason, I thought you were talking about a '73 Charger.

Yes, the '70 Cuda tank will fit all 4 years of the E-body Cuda.
