340King if you can find time next summer you need to come to Flippin Ar. and show these Chevy guys what a mopar can do. It's a 3/8 mile banked dirt track that gets very dryslick about haif way through the night. It is IMCA santioned and also races hobby, steet stock and dworf cars which are mini-replicas of antique car using 1100 motorcycle engines and are very very fast. Right now thier even faster than the modifies. Hope to see you there. Any questions E-mail me at arm@alltel.net

Thanks Jay Thomas

In May of 1994, I was helping a friend of mine race a Mopar powered IMCA mod. We went on a 3 day, 3 state racing tour called the North-South shootout. We raced at Muskogee, OK the first day, Fort Smih, AR the second and Monet, MO the third.

We blew the big motor(360 12.5:1) the first night. Changed engines at a borrowed shop in SE OK. It was one of the traveling trio's relatives (we were traveling together with two other north-central OK teams).

We won the heat and led flag to flag to win the feature at Fort Smith that night. The backup motor was a flat top 360. It missed bad all night, but was hooked up on a real dry slick track.

We did not fare as well in Monet though, finishing a disappointing 8th. We were traveling with Ford driver Mark Robe and chevy driver Tommy Weeder. Robe won in Muskogee and Monet also(I think). He ran the Dollar Transportation car. Rex Merrit was in Monet that night and finished around 5th if I remember right.

I have yet to try the IMCA stuff. The car is really made for IMCA, but I'm trying to make it work in Wissota. The tires and the spec motors are the biggest differences in the two sanctioning bodies. I would like to do some traveling, but I need more seat time. Six trips a year to the track aren't enough to get to my potential. I also need to get my eyes fixed up so I can see better. It is getting hard to pick out the groove on real dark, poorly lit tracks, especially with a dusty shield.

I may come down and let Mark drive the car, he is the guy from OK. I'll let you know. He also needs to get his eyes fixed, probably worse than me!
