I have to come here to ask questions because the Drag racers in the performance area don't understand they just reply "put a four bbl on it".
I am putting together a light weight 318 short block for street strip duty and will be running a 400 2bbl and eventually a Holley 500 2 bbl. I was wondering which 4bbl manifold responds best to this setup and what modifications the carb would best respond to besides jetting. I'm not sure on cam size yet but have set a personal limit of nothing larger than .500 lift. The 103k mile stock 318 (manifolds and single exhaust)runs 15.90 @ 88.50 (spins tires bad) now with 3.23 and will be switching to 4:10. |

I race a 318 with the holley 2bbl. I run the edelbrock rpm manifold with the an adapter. Combo works well. We changed the pump squirter (bigger) and played with the pump cams and changed jets. I think it is a very drivable carb. For the street I would say it could be a very clean combo.
Also if your spinning the tires bad now with 3.23 your really gonna smok'em with 4.11. Your right about those drag race guys, all they know is "more gas". Good luck with your project |

The tires spin bad now because they and older and as a result a bit hard....also as you know the stock 318 cam makes good power off idle
