New canted-valve head

At the season opening NRHA Winternationals one Dodge Pro Stock Truck team is running the new canted-valve head. Bo Nickens is running this head in his truck. His first qualifying pass was a 7.69 @ 175.21. Go to http://www.nhra.com/ for future qualifying times.

Other Dodge PS Truck teams I spoke with said they were planning to run this new head later in the season. Most felt it would be towards the middle of the season though.

I'll bet that Todd Patterson has it too.It's good to see the Nickens boy running better than last year.I like the P/S trucks,but it looks like a sea of S-10's and 5 Dodges.

I'm not sure if Todd is running the new head or not. When I went by their pit I asked one of the crew members if they were running the new head. He wouldn't confirm that they were or weren't running it. I could see the engine in Todd's truck but couldn't really tell what one it was. I don't believe it's possible to tell the older style head from the new canted-valve head unless the valve cover is removed.

Todd's car was on display in the hotel lobby where DC held their press release dinner last night. I understand DC debut the new head at this event along with the new Hemi engine.

Maybe someone that went to the race besides me could confirm what head he's running.

HV- The P5 was in Bo's truck, while I got close enough to see it and talk with him, while all hell was breakin out next door. He was not about to let me take any photos. Sorry we didn't hook up! We had a great time and stayed through Sunday.
