dart10, if you already have them, then you'll have to make the best of it. But if you're still shopping, I'd highly recommend the SR Indy heads. Mot much more money, but alot more head. The Brodix/Koffel BS head, I'm sure, is a good one also. If you're bracket racing, I'd lean towards the Indy, because of the port volume. BS might be alittle more responsive for street car.

dart10, what's been done to them? Are they the new "max-wedge" port type? Haven't seen those. Do they still use stock length valves?

Yes there angle plugs, close chamber, they heads needed work to unshoud the exhaust valves we did a generous port job. stock valves, offset rockers. I had to use shims and springs to get the rocker tips over center it was time consuming not just a bolt on piece. I didn't flow them but i'm positive there out flowing my iron 452s that were 267in 201ex. I had to rework the pistons and mill a bunch off the head to get my 12-5-1 back. Troy Brey was interviewed in mopar performance about these heads and I spoke to him they got guys running in the 9s with these heads. He tells me the intake and exhaust flow so close together they make consistant power though the cam lift. The car certainly sounds differnt just waiting for my carb from aed. hope to go out this weekend. there m1 has the valley pan cast in place that was nice but all the intake gaskets had to be trimmed to fit. I clean it out and my car wont idle, vacume leak. I swap carbs to make sure.I tell the guy who made the arrangment,I'm pissed off no spec shhet not even a note on how the carb functions. it was fine until they got it.its due back monday and wed 8/2 we go test and tune . thanks for asking MOEFLOE. Parts spread all over shop. Probably won't play this year,at all. Those are encouraging numbers from '68's bench. That's enough flow to "wake up" a 440, over any pratical porting, on iron heads. And the plug re-location has to be a big plus over standard stage IV. I'm encouraged by that.
Let us know how it goes. |

actually the redesigned chamber is not very user friendly with anything but flat top pistons. also the way the chamber shrouds the valves causes low and mid-lift flow to suffer. figures that after i started whittling on them that MP would release a MW stage vi with the std chamber. these are what i would recommend for any one running domed pistons. also by the time you rework the chamber to get the interference and flow issues resolved you're at 82cc's.

Fast 68 those #s are impresive I can wait to see how they work this week. Been waiting months to try out my car. went 10:60 with mild 452s flowing 267/197. We did as much to unshroud the valves wich I bitched to chrysler about. I sent the first set of heads back for that reason. the second set was no better. So out of pocket you make them work.I didnt flow these heads there was plenty of gain over the 452s with the port work.Lawrence at moparts.com was real good about it he asked me to keep in touch chrsler wants feed back on these heads. ( yeah at my cost) they coudnt tell me my aries dome pistons would hit.so now there flat tops. it was a real experiance putting thing back together. with the offset rockers you need a spacer kit or the small block shaft washers and some grinding for push rod clearence. But thats the fun of this sport. if the weather holds wed. night we go.Thanks again for your info. I,ll keep you posted Moefloe and company.. DART
