At least it was a MOPAR, Nice 66-67 Charger!! Still working on the right tire pressure. The Track was in BAD shape, Rained from thu till friday night. The 330',660' bulbs were shorted. Even got stuck in the pits after loosing. What a night!!!! Hope to get one of those reaction time games. V10 |

I won the sportsman class at Las Vegas on June 10. Went six rounds and car was fairly consistent. (11.18 to 11.20) Best part was that I did a real bad job of red lighting. Last three rounds had reactions of .510, .502, .501. Better lucky than good? probably!! Best part was that my dad was in town and was there to help out. Next it will be his turn when I go to S Dakota in two weeks so I can watch him race his Duster.

I also attended a race last saturday. It was a local 'street slide' street race in an airport famous for no traction at all. The weather was horrible, really cold and occasionally rain showers. My first run was when it started to rain; at first I couldn't see anything before I got the wipers on, after that I tried to press the gas pedal two times and almost took the trac equipment with me. Really had to be careful to guide the car through the traps. ET was 15.28 at 75 mph. When the rain stopped I could make four qualifiying passes more and ended up being third in the qualification with a 10.70. #1 qualifier was a Corvette that had a Pro Stock engine in it with a 10.53, and second an Olds 442 with a Lightning Offshore EFI engine, 10.54. In the eight car ladder I met a BB Chevelle in the first round and that was pretty easy. In the second round I was against the Corvette and totally screwed up the race. I got a good start but added too much gas and lost traction. After the traction was lost I shifted to second which only made things worse. At the half track I was slightly ahead, but he had more power so he won me with about two car lengths. Anyway, third position wasn't too bad cansidering I had the only car in the elimination that was driven to the race, and back home too.

GET THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!
On wed night we have a grudge night at Thompson Drag raceway. Took my cuda & the rear oil seal went in the rear, so I was grounded!!!! I figure hell I drove all the way here I'm going to race!!!!!!!!!! So I unhook the trailer & enter in the truck class. Now mind you I haven't been able to get past the 2nd round in the pro class with the cuda all year I always miss the 3rd round. I made it to the second round figuring OK I'm going to loose........ Wrong I actually won & then after 5 rounds I took the class!!!!!!!!! go figure maybe I should race the truck instead???????????? NAAAAAAAAAAAA I like the launch & speed too much. V10 |

V10, way to go! Now tell us, how did it run?

The truck is a 98 2wd V10 QC. It ran 16.2 at 82mph. It must need a tune up because with 500mi on the clock it ran 15.6 or 15.8. It now has 40,000.
I might start racing the truck rather than the CUDA!!!!!!!!!!! NOT V10 ------------------

V10, That's impressive, a lot of weight to move there. I'm hoping to buy a V10 dually later this year to pull my digger. Hmmmm, wonder how that 10 would look in the dragster.......

We can't seem to get past the semis. We went 6 rounds Saturday. I think we've been to the semis 5 or 6 times. We went 8 rounds once last year and lost in the semis.
We did win this weekend with the Pro Eliminator Hydro that I crew on. We qualified #3 with a 8.05 on a 8.00 index (no breakout allowed). We beat the divisional champ in the final(3rd round). The boat has run a best of 7.88 at 145 mph. Monty ------------------ Monty Brown 74 Barracuda 446 / PG 10.14 /134 |

Well as of June 27 I am in a 3 way tie for 7th place in pro at my local track. I know of 3 if not 4 points races I didn't attend. But my Mopar comes first so in May 2 weeks I didn't go because of the classic in Columbus, will miss another in August for Nats and in Sept again for Norwalk Classic. But that is ok cause that is where the Bracket Finals are held so I will get some seat time at Norwalk to get ready if I make the team; oh yeah didn't know till 2 weeks ago it is 1/8th mile at the bracket finals so I will do double duty running the 1/4 and checking out the 1/8 times. LIFE IS GOOD! IN A MOPAR IT IS BETTER!!!!!!!!

The car that I build engines for and tune on won Pro-Trophy or something to that effect in NHRA. It was the First Annual NHRA (insert name of race here) race at Thunder Valley Dragway. It was really cool when the guy taking the pictures at the line had a digital setup at the track and was printing out poster sized pictures. The trophy has a wheels up poster behind it!
The car owner's son Jbody is having a pretty decent season of his own, when he decides to go racing. I think he has been to the final round up in Las Vegas this year, coming away with a second, I think. |

Well i thought Id bring this topic back up. Kinda bragging here I guess. I just went 8 rounds at the Monster Mopar event in St. Louis this past Sunday and won the Pro class! I believe there was somewhere around 140 cars. The day before I went 4 rounds was down to 16 cars in a 127 car field. So it was a great weekend to say the least. The $2000 Pro win was a real help!

Congrats, Challenger! I am sorry I didn't stick around to watch you. That ought to help justify the new engine.
