SINCE A GOOD LEAF SPRING CAR SHOULD RISE IN THE BACK (EVERY ACTION HAS A EQUAL AND OPPOSITE REACTION, BODY MOVES UP, TIRE MOVES DOWN) WOULD A AIRSHOCK BE A GOOD CHOICE FOR A DRAG SHOCK CONCIDERING IT'S ALWAYS TRYING TO PUSH THE TIRE DOWN ANYWAY? OR WILL IT JUST BIND THE SUSPENSION FROM IT'S NATURAL MOVEMENT?

Airshocks.......yechhh!!! I once saw a 13 second Nova with airshocks blow a line going thru the traps, the right rear dropped cutting a slick and it got real ugly after that. I have the Competition Engineering 3 way adjustables on the front and back of my Dart Sport. I keep the fronts tight on most tracks and loosen them up if the track is going away. Some people bad mouth the adjustables but they work fine as long as your not trying to run in the 9's. Good Luck. http://www.fortunecity.com/silversto...368/index.html

I lean towards Aldan, Koni or HAL. I've been down the aftermarket shock route. Stay with Mopar Perf 50/50 rears and 90/10 fronts, for a leaf spring setup. At least you won't get the "mystery" settings the Comp Engineering ones have. Worked into the low 11's with leaf springs for me. IMHO only. Footnote: once you've used double adjustables, you'll wonder how you got by without.

I've got the Competition engineer shocks too. On my opinion they do not work any better than any stock shocks, no matter how I adjust them. I would go with some quality shocks instead. like the Konis, they are more expensive but if they work they are actually a better investment than the adjustable cheepo drag shocks.

Many of the fast stock/SS racers (low 10s) are running the Rancho 9000 series adjustables in the back. That type of shock is recommended by Greg Luniak at TriCity Competition - he is the expert at making leaf spring rear setups work.

The Tri City spring has a bias very different from the SS spring. Also, legal cars usually run at events where the surface is well groomed. Thus their suspensions can tolerate the violent tire hit. I would make anybody selling me a leaf spring shock give me a money back guarantee if they don't improve over what I've got. Listen to all the b.s. and excuses when you call them at their bluff.

Alright I'll be the one to admit having air shocks.I dont have a trailer and am one of those guys that has to haul everything including the kitchen sink to the track.Multiple spares due to multiple bolt patterns, tools floorjack nitrous bottle and just plane just in case junk. The tires dont extend past the wheel wells so loss of air aint a problem. That being said they dont bring anything to the performance table.I've run with them pumped up to that 70's hijacker look before. It seemed that after the front settles after launch it wants to unload the rear wheels.BTW the fronts are 90/10 and the rear springs are superstock. The car is a Dart.

AZMOPAR,I am running the Rancho 9000s with a set of CalTracs.I watched my 60ft go from 1.58-1.50 with little tuning. I run a very mild 440 Duster.Unfortunately my website is currently down(should be up soon) but you can see a picture of it launch on Calverts website www.calvertracing.com .It is the green Duster. Also there is a side shot at my site www.stickybusinessracing.com . .....Eric

Eric, What kind of leaf springs are you running with the Cal-Trac Bars? My car goes 1.56 60ft w/superstock springs. Do you think the Cal-Trac bars would show an improvement over SS springs? Hi Mr Mopar.
