Question

Will the m.p. mini starter fit with the hooker comp headers on a 73 Sattelite with 400? Thanks.

Chris - I phoned the Mopar Performance tech line AND CPPA when I was going the mini starter route with my CPPA 2" headers and BOTH said no problems, they had no trouble at all. They were both WRONG!!!! Be sure that the information that you get is correct so you don't end up like I did.
The mini starter I got protruded away from the block more than the standard starter, and the electrical hookups were moved into a plastic block that interfered with the engine block!!
It was the second generation MP mini starter. Hope this note helps you. Marc

I have 2" Hooker super competition headers that are for RB B bodies in my 80 Mirada. The mini starter fit no prob. Just pop up the plastic cover for the electrical connections and you will find it can be removed and this will allow it to fit.

Hey J body!! - I ran a 440 1980 Cordoba LS for years, street raced it all the time in Vancouver B.C. back in the 80's and early 90's.
I had to remove the cover on my Demon, but the mini starter sure didn't fit with my CPPA's!
Send me a picture of your J body at crazymoparguy@home.com or leave me your e-mail address and I'll send you some photos.
Is yours a street car or drag or??

I had the same problem with the MP mini starter (not fitting the block correctly). In fact my coronet is waiting for me to grind some metal off its 440 to get the starter in.

Other stuff I have gotten from mopar has been semi-messed up too-- a bent valley pan gasket and funky drilling on a windage tray.

I may go with another aftermarket brand next motor.

OK, I got the starter and Drivers side header in with no problem, It was a bitch to put the wires on and the positive cable on(battery in trunk) there from up top with the headers bolted up but I got it done. Great I thought, No problems with passenger side right? The directions say just put it in from underneath, you dont need to jack the engine up at all....WRONG! I had to raise the engine 4 inches and squeeze it by the torsion bar, god it was hell!! Oh well, anyways the starter fits and should work great!
