In the San Diego Union-Tribune Sat. March 18, 2000. Wheels section page S-4 there is an article on the PT Cruisers on display at the L'Auberge Resort and Spa in Del Mar Ca. which is a little north of San Diego Ca. The Cruisers will be there untill the end of March. There is about 40. This is a DC event to show off the versatility of the truck as the EPA calls the PT Cruiser. One thing the article pointed out is "the engineers want to stop the rumor that Cruiser uses Neon parts. It is built on a new chassis and shares only some switches, fasteners, nuts and bolts. Even the optional 4-speed automatic tranmisson is new..." About 120,000 Cruisers will be built through the end of the year, with 185,000 possible in a full year, 150,000 of which are intended for North America. They do not feel there will be any problem selling the first years batch.
There is also a web site
www.ptcruiser.com and a owners club
www.ptcruiserclub.org there is a fee to belong. I left this web site address.
