Can anyone explain what the kick down lever does and how to properly adjust it.I'm just about to do a fresh engine start up and want to get as many things correct as possible so my first car build ,engine build (at age 47)
goes smoothly.
Do the throttle and kick down lever have to
open to the max at the same time.

The lever controlls the fluid presure in side of the trans. With out the lever installed the trans will think you are at idle, even at full throttle. This will not give the the clutches and bands enough fluid preasure to hold them from slipping. <Instant rebuild> time. Adjust the throttle preasure linkage so it is pushed all the way back with the carb wide open. And if the trans shifts at to high of rpm, back it off 1/8 inch at a time go get the right rpm shift. Hope this helps you.
