Thumbs down

I have considered this accessory the highest priority since my wife constantly comments on "how nice it would be if the passenger seat had an armrest."

And finally, one of the vendors that I have been watching anxiously for the arrival of the aftermarket armrest has now announced its availability.

However, I was a little disappointed to see that the armrest design is just an extra wide armrest attached to the drivers seat. Looks like it might be better than nothing, if the seats are adjusted to the same distance from the dash, however, if the drivers seat it far forward and the passenger seat is back, or vice-versa, it would just be an aggravation. IMO

To see the armrest go to:
http://www.jjproducts.net/PTCruiser.html

And I have to say the price seems a bit on the high side. ($109 - $149 for leather) Especially when you consider the design... for example if you look at the Honda CRV armrest, made by the same company:
http://www.jjproducts.net/jjarmrest.htm

In comparison the Honda armrest design is more what I had hoped for on the PT Cruiser. And even though it includes mounting brackets etc., it costs less...I guess they figured if people will pay $2,000 (not me BTW) over invoice for the car why not gouge them a little on the armrest...???

Well if someone else decides to purchase this one, please let us know how you like it.

There is another website threatening to make and armrest, I think it was:
http://www.pteazer.com/index.html

but I'm not certain. Their site is still "under development". Anyone else have a line on an after-market armrest?

Hope everyone has a Happy 4th!

No, I havn't heard of others making armrest, but that is something my wife also mentions and we haven't even gotten ours yet.
Nice photo of your Cruiser and the monument at Gettysburg, was the spoiler added by the dealer? How much did it cost to have mounted? If you did it yourself, was it much trouble? Great car and looks like you had a good trip. Let us in BX know how the options are handled.

Hello Ed,

Well checked an email I recently received form the PTEAZER folks and sure enough, they claim to be in the final days of creating an armrest... we'll see.

On the spoiler, I installed it. Bought it from http://www.******* -mopar-parts.com/ got a good deal from them, on a painted version. Comes with a couple cut-out templates. Drill four holes and SHA-BANG installed. (Your experience may be different...

Thanks for the kind words on the web page, I'm in the process of adding some more links and maybe breaking them in to some categories.

So HAPPY CRUSIN!

FYI, I just got done "making" a temp. arm rest for when my wife is with me, mainly on long trips. It cost me about 5.00. I bought a 2-3/4" wide x 12" long plastic bin box and cut off ends with box about 8" long upside down U shaped which slips over driver armrest. I then used a clipboard base piece, cut 7" wide x 8-1/2" long, mounted the U piece along one side with blind nuts. I made a shaped vertical wood leg 3/4" wide that rests into the long narrow slot on consol and supports to pass. side of the rest. Added 1/2" foam to top, covered everything with vinyl cloth, painted to match gray interior and can store in trunk when not needed.

PTCowner, thanks for the info. I am sure between myself and the mechanics at the garage, we can do the job just fine. Now, if we just had a PT to mount it on.
P.S., we lived in PA for 5 years, Doylestown area, and used to travel to Amish country and Gettsyburg often.
Happy Crusing!!
