Cool

Happy Holidays to everyone. We just returned from seeing my relatives in California. We put 3300 miles on the cruiser with no problems at all. Got to drive in all kinds of weather from Calif. fog and crazy drivers to Arizona snow and ice at 7 degrees. At the start of the trip we only got 21mpg, the best was 28 and an overall of 24.6, not bad for a new car and 75mph. Saw several cruisers, never did spot a cranberry one but saw all the other colors, even followed a white one for a while near Flagstaff AZ. People sure do look twice at you when two cruisers pass them. Had lots of fun with the family, everyone wanted to drive it, there were several new cars at our xmas get together but the focus was on the cruiser. The wife will take it in for its first oil change on tuesday, she works at the dealership, we did use almost one qt and Im a little concerned, I guess we will have to pay close attention to any future oil consumption. I hope everyone has a happy newyear and happy cruising.

We took ours to Pittsburgh Pa from Chicago over the holidays. We did 70 to 80 most of the way. The PT ran well and was comfy.

Gas milage was 22 to 23. It appears that the 4th and 5th gears are designed for an engine with less power, so it revs along at 3000 to 4000 on the highway, normally. I'd guess it would be 15% or 20% (3.21 vs 2.69) better if it had a 5th gear similar to the automatic's top gear.

My guess is they did it to save money, using the same trans/drive train for the European 5 spd w/2.2L motor. It would have been worth paying an extra $100 for more reasonable gearing, as the engine will also wear that much quicker.

Considering that otherwise the car has been perfect, it isn't bad at all... Just imagine the Gas YARDAGE had I bought the wife a Lincoln Navigator like she originally asked for...

I was thinking it would be nice if the car had a 6th gear. It seems like 3200rpm is high for extended periods. I was sure glad we weren't driving a gas hog when we filled up in Needles Ca., we paid 2.10 a gallon, its out in the desert and they have you by the short hairs.
