Question

I'm still looking for information on retrofitting the compass and thermometer in my overhead console. My local parts man says the wiring is already there although I can't find it and my service manuals havent come yet. Can anyone help?

Sorry - couldn't find one in my books - sounds like an interesting project - keep me posted (I don't have that console in mine and may want to do the same.)

Anyone can email me at: Sowders@Juno.com

Thanks and

Good luck on your project !

Ram Man: Thanks for the answer. I also got an answer from a fellow Ram owner over at the Indy Ram group. He sent a lot of good information. I'll pass it along as soon as I can...Bob

I finally got the factory service manual in the mail this past Friday. Some of the wiring harness is indeed already installed. All I need to do now is remove the headliner and check the harness in that area. Just haven't had the time yet. You can bet I will install the unit before too much longer. I drive a Caravan company car that has the trip computer and really miss it in the truck.
I'll let you know when I do more.

I have the overhead compass / thermometer in my '98 Ram (bought used)- didn't have it in my '96. Personally, I'd prefer NOT to have it. If I want a compass, I'll buy a dashboard one - if I want the outside temp, I can buy a stick on for the mirror.

I'd much rather have the storage space for sunglasses, garage door opener, etc.

Now - if it included a trip computer or something that was really useful - I might think differently.
