Question

I've been searching for a test of gasolines. Someone told me BMW does gasoline testing on their engines to check for injector fouling, valve seat buildup and other stuff related to deposits from gasoline. Does anyone know where I can get these test results, or are there other test results available?

Well, I have a 89 325i and my mechanic gave me a copy of the report (about 2 years ago). It had indicated that the best gasolines were (in this order)....Texaco, Chevron, Mobil, Union 76, Arco, Shell, then everything else.

I've used Chevron exclusively in all my vehicles without a problem. Every 10K miles I dump some extra Techroline into the tank and viola....

Thanks Mikey;
Looks like the best one in this small town is Shell. I've been using it but getting a little pinging with the 87 octane. Will try the 89 this week.
If you run across something online please let me know.

This might not be the answer your lookin for but there is a bulletin out by dodge saying that we (ram owners) should be using just
plain regular unleaded gas (low octane).I dont remember the reason but the service guy at my dealership showed me.also noted that spark plugs should be regapped to 40

I can try and get a reference number or something. that will help on this gas problem. I also remember that it had something to do with a loss of power problem on some of these trucks and cars were having.
