I have a high performance computer fron MP for a 1995 dodge dakota with a 5.2L manual trans. I have since changed trucks and gone to a full size ram 5.2L automatic. Does anyone know if the hipo computer from the 95 5.2L manual will work on the 98 5.2L automatic. If it does'nt does any one want to buy one?

Ummmm, I don't think it will work. I believe that there are too many changes from Dakota to Ram, but even more so in the years difference. They changes a few things under the hood in the 98 year for rams. Hope this helps.

I would venture to say that the sofware in the 95 computer would not work the same in the 98 truck even though they are the same engine size. One big difference that I know of is that in 1998 Dodge switched to OBD-II (on board diagnostics, version II)software in almost all of their trucks. I'd call the tech boys at Chrysler and double check.

Just curious.... I have a 99 ram 5.2 that I am considering getting a Hi-Po computer for, I just wanted to know if it made a difference in your truck and if you think it was worth the money. Thanks!

NURAMFAN- in my Dakota it made a very noticable difference. most power gain seemed to more on the mid to top end. I had to use premium gas to elimiate the ping. if you do not mind paying for the premuim gas i thought it was worth it. I will probably get one for my 98 ram since the other probobly wont work

I believe in 98 Dodge went to a body controller style computer. I am pretty sure that the 95 computer will not work, but I agree as stated above that checking with the tech line is the best solution.
