Question

i have a 98 qc 4x4 with auto/v10.from time to time when i start the truck the tranny lets out a whining sound{kinda like a jap car in reverse}then stops.no idea what it is,however also cant shift on the fly when i do get the floor shifter into a gear it only takes 4high but wont engage.forget about getting into neutral or 4low.anybody have any ideas,dodge seems to think its in my head

viperamdj, I have the same truck that you have and I took my truck back to the dealer for the same problems you mentioned. The service manager told me the whining sound is because the tranny fluid is draining out of the converter but as long as it doesn't whine more than a few seconds it isn't hurting anything. As far as the shifting problem with the transfercase mine was the same, I found it works well to accellerate some when shifting "on the fly" and mine shifts into 4Hi very easy. (you must be stopped to shift into 4Lo) Good Luck! AJ
