Can someone tell me what the one single modification for under $200 would be that would give my 1999 Ram 360 more power? Just looking for one single mod for less than $200 that would yield the most HP gain with better gas mileage. Would prefer for it to be somewhat easy to install too!
Thanks,
Eric

That's a challenge!!!

For $200 I would do a Flowmaster muffler (53057) for $85 and a K&N filter for the stock box ($45). You can install these yourself.

Will get you about 2.5mpg and a minor kick in the pants.

The K&N Gen II will get you a noticeable kick with the Flowmaster but costs about $220 by itself.

Just about everything else is $300 or higher and really needs the free flowing exhaust and intake to get the HP and MPG out.

I'll have to agree with Mikey - the best mod for the money would be to open up your exhaust.

Even if you stay with the stock pipes and install an aftermarket muffler (like Magnaflow) you'll be better off.

Just my .02

"Good luck on your project."

Thanks for your guys input on the add-ons! Went with a special concoction..... added the "PowerPack" exhaust system and went with the "non-smog legal" AIRAID system fabricating my own heatshield. I had it dyno-tested at @ 275 HP... (not bad for a 4x4 with 285/75/16 BF Goodrich KO's). Anyway, the AIRAID system installed in less than 1/2 hr, and the exhaust in just less than two hours. The whole set-up cost me $330. You guys were right once again!!! Hats off to ya!

I about fell over! The only way that I could come up with it was
Stock 245 HP
Airaid 15 HP
Exhaust 10 HP
and possibly at the very most 5 HP for Outlaw fuel additive.
These are the only modifications that I have made to the truck. I have been told that the Mopar Performance Computer would add an additional 35 HP, but I have not seen any evidence. I don't think that I could afford the gas! Here in Indy, it is selling for $1.50 per gallon on a good day! I have just decided to put an end to the performance add-ons, because after all my truck is a 4x4. If I really wanted to be fast I should have bought a 2wd!

Thanks for the vote of confidence!!! It just looks kind of silly to see a big yellow 4x4 Ram w/ tires equivalent to 33"s and Westin bars, smokin' em' off the line!!! That intake system probably made the biggest improvement over the exhaust. Any other suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated even though I need to save some money for a week or two after Christmas! What other mods do you guys recommend?
