Question

I know we discussed this some in the TRUCK forum, but would like more info on this particular mod.

I have heard that "MARCH" makes the ones that MOPAR sells . . . is that true ?

Any problems with running other accessories ?

Do you have to reset the stock computer ?

Yes, I put them on with the RT package. They have a Mopar number, but sources at Mopar Performance say that March does make them.

Hasn't effected any of the accessories at all. I don't know how much performance they add when installed by themselves, since I did it with the cam, super computer, etc.

I'm running them on my 95' RAM with all the R/T goodies installed plus some other go fast parts. No problems with them other than headlights getting a little dimmer when coming to a stop or idle.

Believe March claims a couple of HP increase with them installed.

I'm running March 3pc pulleys and I'm on my second battery. I have keyless entry/alarm
and Pioneer cassette with 12pack cd and 1 200watt amp. Couldn't run my other amp as I didn't have enough power. Have to pop it in neutral if the wipers, heater and stereo are running at the same time at a stop light.
Are you guys without problems running the 2pc or 3pc setup? How big are your alternators? Are you running lots of auxil. stuff?
Curious?

Yeah - the set I'm interested in is called the March "Power Amp" series (The other set is called the "Horsepower" series)

I believe it is a 2 pulley set and is not supposed to be as "draining" as the horsepower series (IE -revving at stop lights etc.)

Any more info will help - Thanks again !

RamMan,
Whats the diff. between the two? diameter of
the pulleys? Im not into lots of aux. lites
and audio stuff, think the other set would be good for me? I dont want to do the neutral
thing at all the stop lites though.

Not exactly certain - don't think it has to do with the diameter -

The "Performance series" is a 3 piece set (Crank pulley, Water pump pulley and the Alternator pulley.)

Basically you just take off the stock ones and replace it with the performance ones . . . and you are supposed to be able to use your stock belt.

The "Power and Amp" series is sometimes just a 2 piece set (altho some are 3) and they are made (from what I know) so you don't have that draining feeling when you stop at a light or if you have a bigger amp need (like running a loud stereo system etc.)

Check out:
http://www.marchperf.com/chrysler.html

for more details. (I see you can also get matching power steering pulleys as well - cool !!! Comes in Clear, Candy, or Black.

Other people (that have them already) could probably tell you more than I.

"Good luck on your project."

I actually emailed them about the Power and Amp series (cause I have a 98 and want one) and they said it should be between Christmas and the first of the year.

I'll let you know as soon as I do.

Can you just replace the crank pulley and water pump without changing the stock alternator pulley? This would eliminate the low electrical power at stoplight problem.

I'll be adding more lights and eventually a winch. I paid big bucks to get the HD service group option which included the 140 Amp alternator. Darned if I want to add something that will reduce it.

You can change any one pulley, but it will have an overall affect if you change the crankshaft pulley to anything other than the stock size. I had some percentage figures about the aluminum pulleys for the old engines, but I can't find them now. Changing your crank pulley to the underdrive style will slow your alternator down XX% and changing the crank and alt. pulleys will slow it down more. I am just running the crank and water pump pulleys on my 360 Magnum crate engine for now, but I'm going to try the alt. pulley when I swap to a larger alt. Hope this helps...
