I have an 85 Dodge Ramcharger Royal SE. The courtesy lights (on the side, not the top) have holes melted in them. This was apparantly a common problem, as all the ones I've seen in salvage yards have the same problem. Where can I order new covers (ones with different plastic would be nice) that will fit? Thanks in advance.

I have a 86 Ramcharger Royal SE also.My light cover in the rear is missing and I'm just going to try to order it thru Mopar. The usual reason the covers melt is a incorrect bulb installed that puts out more light(and heat) and melts the cover. Not saying you did this,it's just from my experience working at a Dodge dealer.

I also have an 85 Royal SE, and my lights are melted as well. If you find a source, I'd like to hear about it. I've had absolutly no luck finding anything in Canada. I'd actually be interested in finding a whole rectangular interior light to use, preferably a little bigger than stock, with a better lense, and I'd switch them out entirely.

I think I've found an answer; I got a piece of glass and cut it to the right sizes for the two lights (hard to do; when you cut it so thin, it has a tendancy to break). I then sanded the edges with steel wool (using gloves) and scuffed one side by really pressing down on the steel wool. I then lightly sprayed it with white spray paint (don't coat it, just lightly fog it). I used paper clips to hold them into the old holes; It was hard to bend them, I recomend taking out the lights before putting the glass on, they just unscrew and there is a plastic wire connector that you can undo.

According to my 88 Truck parts manual(which should be the same) the part number for the lens is 3488995, and should still be available from Mopar.
