Wednesday night there was a big snowstorm in Dayton, Ohio and I do a radio show 10-midnight and I left around 9 PM to get there on time. One out of every four cars on the road were not on the road because they were either stuck off the side of the road or stuck in the median. The road conditions were worse than lousy for them but I had no problems going at all. I have a 2000 Ram 1500 QC, Auto, 3.55 Sure-Grip, MOPAR tonneau cover, AND a year's supply of kitty litter (520 #) in the bed of my Ram. I even saw Ram 4X4's stuck off of the road! (And Jeeps and just about every other kind of vehicle, too!)

I came up on a salt truck that was going about 35 mph and would keep getting squirrely and I passed it because it looked unsafe to be around that truck. when I passed the salt truck a Police car was in front of the salt truck sort of leading it. the Police car was even more squirrely that the salt truck so I passed it too. I'm sure the policeman could not believe that my Ram was so stable on the road in those conditions (& also probably thought I was nuts, too). I was able to safely drive 50 mph when everyone else could barely go 30 mph (and they weren't safe at 30).

The point of this is - put about 520# over your rear wheels for stability when driving in snow and look out for everyone else who should have stayed at home.

That's hillarious. Why the crap is a policeman escorting a snow truck? Isn't that a waste of your tax money? If the truck starts slidin down hill, then the cop ain't got a chance to get outta the way. We don't get much snow here, so I have to worry about passing the police where they're hidden waiting for me and all the other speed demons around here.

I used to live in Pa. in the Poconos when I was younger. They used to just close I84 when it snowed too much.
I'd load up the trunk of my Nova (sorry) with about 300lbs of bagged sand and it did pretty good.
It was pretty squirrley though as it had a 327 with an Edelbrock intake etc, etc. I miss that thing.
Oh well, guess I'll have to get me a Cuda.

97 Xcab 5.9L 3.92 limited slip. I live in PA where we tend to get a bunch of that awful white stuff. I place 800lbs of sand into two large rubbermaid containers and strap them to the tailgate. Even with fairly bald tires the truck cruises right along.
