I have recently serviced an 84 RamCharger changing some dash bulbs and putting in a new radio and also trying to fix what I thought was a bad blower switch. This has AC included. On the switch there is a plug that has 5 connectors and on the selector box there is also a plug in the back with 3 connectors. I tested the fuse block and there is a good fuse and power going into it. I then checked the 2 plugs. The 3 wire plug has power in the center wire. The 5 wire plug to the switch had no power at all. Could someone tell me what both plugs do and where I should look to troubleshoot.
It's too cold to not have heat!! |

Find the blower resister block, pull it out & inspect it - I think you'll find that It's burned out or the connector is rusted and/or corroded. This gives you the differnt blower speeds. Hope this helps.
------------------ If at first you don't succeed, read the instructions |

Thanks for the tip. I checked the resistor and the power wire to the switch itself. It turned out to be the power wire was shorted somewhere between the fuseblock and the switch so I popped the old wire out from the fuseblock and ran a new 10 gauge wire from there to the switch. That fixed it!!
Thanks again Jim |
