Wink

Hi, I was wondering if ANYONE knew where i could get my 1996 dodge ram converted to a convertable, not a fake convertable, but a real one, I KNOW i saw one once in New Jersey, and would really love to do it . I know they used to make the Dakota's for that one year in convertables.
I have a 1996 Dodge Indy Ram.

Question

I'll have to check around on that one . . . are you looking for a complete convertible top (like a cloth/vinyl folder top) or one of those conversions where you take the entire hard section off and are able to replace ?

I saw a Q/C once with a targa top and thought that looked awesome, but the owner said it was a nightmare to convert because of the roof structure and moving the wiring around.

Maybe someone else has heard of one.

i've been interested in that too...i'd rather be able to just remove and reattach my original roof and back glass area though rather than a canvas convertable top....anyone???

Unhappy

Here you go:

Made originally by Mavron Industries in Indiana, then sold to two other guys,
becoming Super Dome Inc., and then out of business :-(

Here is a picture of what it looked like:

Still looking for a regular convertible company . . . not much luck so far.

Lightbulb

Here is one other thought: One guy told me he wanted that look on his Chevy and couldn't find a kit, so what he did was talk to someone that makes boat tops, (you know those bimini tops kinda like on a tracker) and they fabracated one out of stainless steel tubes and some top material. Takes awhile to plan out but really its not that hard.

I personally would rather have a kit from a company that has been making them, in case it leaks . . . . It's not like you can just whip the roof back on after you cut it off . . . . . . .
