Any body know what can be done in this area
on a 98 5.9 motor? Or has anybody tried anything yet on their motor. Im gonna do a
cam, springs, roller rocker change anyway so while I got this apart i might as well do head work.

Ive looked into this same area. Mopar Performance has stainless steel exhaust valves avaliable. They also have 3 sizes of stainless intake valves avaliable, stock, and two larger sizes, 2.02 being the largest, which will fit

There are a few companies around that do head work. I have found/heard that these heads respond well to a 3 angle valve job, openings up and blending the bowls, a good smoothing, and port matching. I have a set of heads sitting right here in my room, just have to get the $$$$$ together to get em done!

I have done no work in this area on my Ram, however the following info might be of help to you.

Porting Templates P/N P4876413 racer's net $24.95

Ported Magnum Head Assy P/N P4876257 includes stainless 1.97 intake and 1.625 exhaust, heavy duty springs, chrome-moly retainers, locks and seals at a racer's net of $975.00

Also keep in mind that all MP parts can be obtained through several vendors discounted up to 30% from the above listed prices - Hope this helps.

Sorry plumcrazy, the catalog just arrived last week, Race team members generally receive the price list 2 to 4 weeks later. I will ask at the MP folks at Pomona next week and post them as soon as I return.

Part numbers are as follows:

Aluminum Magnum Head P4876624
Aluminum Commando Head P4876785 (they're supposed to smoke the Edelbrocks)

I'll post Racers nets after I talk to the MP guys in Pomona this week!

Sorry Clay,

The Commando heads are "A" motor items. There already exist several B/RB Heads from Mother Mopar, what's your application?

I used a Mopar porting template on some of these Magnum heads with stock valves and they flowed 240 CFM on the intake and 183 CFM on the exhaust at 500 lift. If you're interested, I have a set of new Mopar Magnum race springs with moly retainers for sale at a reasonable price. E-mail me at rray2robb@cs.com for a price quote and more information.
