Does anyone know how long emission parts are covered under warranty? My EGR is going bad on my V-10 and the dealer wants 450.00 to replace it. Is this a job I can do with a normal tool set or are there special tools involved? They say the work is not covered under my extended warranty. My truck is a 95 with 50,000 mi. I thiught emission controls were covered longer by some government mandate.

Mike, the emission warrenty has gone down for the last several years due to better computors & software. The upper intake has to come off to replace the EGR valve. Look it over to see if you can handle it - its tricky to get off, but it will! If you need any more info, just holler.
