If fiberglas fenders were say $ 600.00pr & Carbon Fiber fenders were say $ 850.00pr how many of you would truly be interested in puchasing a pair? Be truthful! If we get a good response I will call some of the manufacturers and see what their feedback is.

I would be very interested!!! I dont know if I would choose fiberglass or carbon, I would like carbon, but there better be a huge weight difference over the glass ones cuase I cant justify 250 bucks for like 1 lb diff.
Also, the fenders are strickly cosmetic in my point of view, they dont carry load and dont help/hurt in a crash, so the lighter the better! Thanks! Clay |

S & L,
An example that I can give you is that steel door shell for a grand national weighs about 40lbs, a carbon fiber door shell for the same is 7lbs. Fiberglas would probably be over 20lbs. BB |

IF I TOLD YOU THAT YOU WOULD SAVE A TOTAL OF 45 LBS. WOULD THAT BE ENOUGH? THE PRICE WOULD BE APPROX. $ 600.00USD. BB |

I WOULD DEFINATELY BE INTERESTED IN A PAIR SINCE I WANT TO LIGHTEN UP MY FRONT END. IF SOMEONES GOING TO PAY THAT PRICE FOR FIBER THAN WHY NOT GO THE EXTRA $$ FOR ALL THAT LESS WEIGHT.

Who makes the carbon FIber ones, I got a friend that has a 1995 Dak that he swapped a 340 /4 gear from a duster in it. He currently has a fiber hood and a few other goodies. What he really wants is a fiber front end..and he has more money than sense.
I envy the man. anyway Max |

Maxwedge,
I have yet to find a manufacturer to do the carbon fiber thing, but glass fenders are not out of the question yet. I am waiting for the serious respnses to come in before I get into this further. BB |

Billy Bob, I used to work with pre preg carbon fiber in the aerospace field and I have a box of hardened flat sheets here at the house that I have made some things with. ie: head unit trim ring, surround sound unit mount for the dash, rim centercaps, and a few other goodies. The place that makes these fenders, do they offer carbon fiber material in small quantities?? I have yet to find a distributor that will sell me less than a whole roll and they cost anywhere from 1500 for a roll of dry carbon fiber to 5000 for a roll of pre preg. If you could find out if they sell small quantities Id apprecaite it greatly. I want to start molding some of the rams interior parts and make some carbon fiber parts to sell.
