I have had about the same combo, same intake, cam, headers etc. I think you are looking around 6500 rpm shift points with that combo. By the way, I really liked that cam, it produced good power and good low end torque; oerfect for a streeter. With the bigger .590" cam you only gain a little in the top end, but loose big time in the low end.

I put that cam in my 383 last season. It works very well. The car runs 11.73 shifting at 6000. I have 31*13.5 rear slicks and a 4.56 gear. I installed the cam pretty much straight up last season. My computer says to advance it 4 degrees and it will pick up .2, we'll see. I think it wants me to advance it because of the large tires and small cubic inches. It's a great cam though, I bought it somewhere on the web for $150...can't beat that.

Great cam . Another great cam is the 528 / 284, this cam is great on the street and track I was running low 12s and getting 15 mpg (imp gallon )with the 528.. 410 gears, 28 in tires, 3500 stall ,m1 intake,850 holley. The 557 has great low end and good top end power . The 528 is a real bottom end brute and decent horsepower it would work great in a 383 .I have ran both cams in my 440 ,I like the 557 for the sound and power ,the 528 makes better low end power ,has lots of vacume ,and is a great daily driver. Mopar recomends 10.5 to 1 and up for the 557 and 9.5 to 1 and up for the 528 . Remember the valve lash makes these cams smaller than the advertised numbers . Subtract .028 & .032 off the lift and about 7 degrees of the duration. Depending on car weight ,converter , gears ,etc the choice is yours they are both great cams as is the 509 /292 hyd. I prefer the mech cams myself.
