I have a Super Street TBI from Magnum Performance in my 99 360 and the core charge was $200. I had lots o gain but I paid out the rear for it too. You might be able to get a Stage 1 TBI for under $500 from there. www.fastdodge.com

I would not recommend buying from Magnum Performance. I too, bought a Super Street throttle body from them and while I will say the craftmanship is good, the prices and customer service is horrible!! I sent my core throttle body back to Jules(the owner) and he "misplaced it" costing me my core charge refund. Once I called to buy an MSD ignition kit from him and he put me on hold, then returned to ask me to call back because he had Vortech on the other line. What a jerk! I strongly advise against any purchases from him.

That's my .02 worth.

Good Luck!

I do understand bad service but when you got it was it worth the money and how much was it. Also if you were going to do it again which tbi would you pick and how much are they.

Do you guys think I should keep my original in case I ever have problems with my truck. Do any of you guys know if it will void my warrenty. My thoughts were if I ever had a problem all my factory parts were going back on so I wouldn't have to listen to a bitching for the dealer. What do you all think.

Well Patty is a lousy SOB in my honest opinion!! He owes me 150 bucks core charge from like September of 1999. He has basically dropped off the face of the earth! I collected bunches of information and have posted it here:
http://expert.cc.purdue.edu/~cooke/rdperform.html

check it out, and dont buy from him if he resurfaces.

SweetnLow:

I feel you pain and thought I'd pass this on to see if it will give you another lead to track your money down:

Send a tactfully stated letter to the BBB:

The Better Business Bureau
PO Box 321
Bradenton, FL 34206 0321
(813) 748 1325

Send another one to the State Consumer Protection Office:

Mr Richard Scott, Chief
Consumer Division
Office of the Attorney General
4000 Hollywood Boulevard
Suite 505 SOUTH
Hollywood, FL 33021
(305) 985 4780

I have included their phone numbers as well - but it has been my experience that a well written letter can get better results (because phone calls can be shuffled around and forgot - but you would have to physically throw a piece of paper away to ignore the problem.) Send it registered, so you get a piece of paper with someones name on it . . . only cost a couple bucks at the P.O. - then wait 7 - 10 days . . . THEN call - ask for the person who signed for it and find out what they have done.

And - if you don't mind me suggesting - while its certainly OK to let them know how upset you are - remember - you are asking them to battle on your behalf. Don't take it out on them.

I'll get off my soap box now (sorry).

AND, as always . . . .

Thanks Ram Man!! I have looked into the BBB thing, but my well thought out letter was lost somewhere in a lost connection to the Net.. so I havent gotten around to it since a Civil Suit has been filed against patty, and his court date is March 10

But I will definatley get those out as they may help me get money back!!

Thanks again!

I have a 98 Ram SS/T, and I saw the ad from Magnum Performance. Made the huge mistake of ordering a tbi ($1800 worth) and after getting the runaround for almost a year I'm trying to get my money back. Anybody have any success?

I agree that Magnum Performance needs to get their act together. Jules told me a 4 month wait last February and I got it in November. Go figure. He still owes me $200 from the core. I'll be making a call pretty soon. The ironic thing is that he asked me to say something good so he could put it in his catalog. I should of said something like, "Jules takes too long and likes to pocket core charges". He makes a good TBI but he needs to hire more people. Sounds like he's the only one runnin the show down there in Houston.

I'm sure glad I read this thread about Mag. Perf. as I was close to ordering from them but with all these problems I'll get the TB from QuickD. Thanks.

Cool

Less than 2 weeks ago I had JBA silver ceramic headers, K&N FIPK, and Quick D throttle body put on my 2000 Ram QC 5.9L Auto with 50-series Flowmaster muffler and together the performance increase is awesome. Since I had everything put on at the same time I can't be for sure what the individual parts seperately would have done, but judging from my experiences in the past with headers I would suspect the super low end performance more to the Quick D throttle body than the headers. My 5000# truck seems to be almost as fast as a 3300# 1971 Duster 340 was at the low end. The top end is much improved, but nowhere close to the Duster 340.

My gas mileage has gone way down since I've put on the goodies, but since *everyone* says the goodies that I've added to my truck should give me 2-4 more mpg and I'm getting 2-4 mpg less now. I blame myself for having way too much fun with my Ram. (Went over 100 mph twice without meaning to. Before I had all the goodies on I would have been up to only 80 mph driving it the same way.)

I would highly recommend any and all the above mentioned go-fast goodies, especially all of them together.

I guess I was lucky with Magnum Performance I ordered my throttle body in Sept of 99 and got it in Dec of 99 I also sent my core back to Jules in late Jan of 2000 and got my core check back today 3-2-2000 I can understand everybody getting impatient but to me it was worth the wait the truck runs great.

Sorry in advance if this question is lame! So, what function does a throttle body perform, and what do the "performance" ones do that the "stock" ones don't? How much noticable performance gain will there be?

Question

Does anyone have a web address or phone number for Flowmetrics? I checked out QuickD's tbi and it looks great, just wanted something to compare to, shop around a little. Thanks!

Agreed about Magnum Performance! The only thing I bought from them was a K&N FIPK for my prior '96 5.9L. The air cleaner housing arrived BENT IN HALF and when I called him about it he just said it wasn't his fault - even when I told him that I paid more through him be cause of his "value added" service!

Needless to say, of the (approx) $1500 I've spent in performance mods since, he has not gotten a penny.

Wowwww, what a bummer, poor ole Jules getting hammered here.I have to tell ya all though, I bought an intake and ignition from him and got it in a week, price was right too, best in all the shopping I have been doing. I also ordered a TBI from him, I told him, (probably a mistake though) that I was in no big rush for it, late June or early July would be cool. But now that I read all this, I might just have to start riding his ass a bit now. It's only been four weeks since I gave him a deposit.Give some feedback here, what's the best way to deal with this guy to get favorable results.

All you gotta do is cut Jules some slack and be patient and he'll take care of you. I have talked to the guy and corresponded via E-mail a few times and he's really pretty cool + he really knows magnums!

RJB40, if you haven't already done so, go to the search function and get all the posts on aftermarket TBIs and read up on the experiences others have had with the three suppliers. Just a suggestion.
