Just thought people who are planning to purchase rods for their 440 might be interested in Manleys Sale. I think this is a very good deal. Take a look at: http://manleyperformance.com/mmart2.html

I'll toss my thanks out to you too. By the way I called Manley and the weight on the stock length, stock pin diameter rod is 875 grams (smaller pin dia = 880 grams), and the rod is rated up to 800 HP.

My thanks also. Anybody remember how much a stock 440 LY rod weighs?

Boy that's a good deal but I need the same rod with chevy size on the big and small end . .990 2.200 . does anybody know what the part # is ? I think eagle makes it. If you use the chevy rod there is about an extra .022 side play on the crank . Lancer

Lancer, Manley makes the rod you want. 14279 is the part number if my memory serves me correctly. Chrysler length and width, Chevy pin size on both ends. That rod will also work in a Pontiac 455 if you kiss the big end in a grinder to tune of 0.010 or so.
BTW - I picked up a set of the Manley rods for $440. Didn't need them but couldn't turn down that good of a price. I'll just have to build me another stroker motor! |

The LY rods I have weighed have been in between 820 and 890 grams. The heaviest and lightest rods were in the same engine! Usually the weight difference in omne engines rods is 20-40 grams, not too accurate. The 875 gram weight is pretty good; I've got a set of .990" pin Eagles that weigh 907 gr, and a set of C&A speedway rods that weigh 860 gr. The 2.200 / .990 rods in mopar length require custom pistons as far as I know, but there are some off the self ROSS pistons for this offset stroker combo for some 'chevy length' rods that are less expensive. If I remember correctly those pistons were for 6.535" length rods, and I believe they are available from Eagle in the correct mopar width. But don't trust my beliefs in that, check the things first.
