I am swapping from a 904 auto to a race 727 auto with reverse manual valve body. Do I still need to use the kickdown linkage?? I heard it also controls pump pressure? If I do need it how should it be set? I have toasted three stock 904's and I don't want to kill the new 727. The car is a 74 360 powered Duster.

DusterFamily,It depends on the valve body. I put a Trans-Go 3 Manual shift kit in my 727 and it requires the use of the TP linkage. I used this kit because the shift pattern was not reversed. Other valve bodys i have used did not require the TP linkage. Talk to the company that made your valve body and ask them. If you do not use the linkage when required, the trans think's you are ideling around all of the time and got giving the clutches and bands and hydrailic preasure to keep them from slipping then you step on the throttle. I think Fly Boy is right. If it needs the linkage the tranny will slip alot and wear out real fast. I put a B&M manual pack in my valve body. I had the option to use the linkage to regulate line pressure or make it full line pressure all the time.
