Have two elec. distributors. One has reluctance wheel play (up & down) of about .060", the other has little or no play. Do I have a defective distributor? Thanks for help.

As long as the reluctor is on tight to the shaft and you have the clip installed inside of it then your play is coming from the bottom/below the casting where the shaft sticks out. There should be a thin thrust washer there and a thick plastic washer there with a hole that will line up with another hole in the shaft. thru this goes a roll pin. if you have slop there is something there that may be missing or very worn and should be easily visible. This should be a relitivly easy fix unless there is wear on the bottom of the casting for some reason because of the play. Just my 2 cents..........DAVE
