Question

Has anyone used this setup, it includes the cam, manifold, lifters, and the carb. Im about to purchase this kit unless someone knows of a better setup? Also will stock 68 318 heads be able to handle this kit?

I don't know how it will work on your small block but I had an Edelbrock Performer RPM package on a '69 Charger with a 440. I liked it. Only thing done to the heads was just cleaned them up a little, no real port or polish job.
I don't know why it wouldn't work well for your setup.
Just my 2cents worth.
Good luck.

I have used the whole Performer Package in my stock '69 318. also went with their dual roller timing chain, valve springs, thermal carb gasket, linkage adapter, intake bolts. I used their 600cfm carb set for performance out of the box. The motor was in my '69 Dodge Coronet 500. First, I only had single exhaust with stock manifolds. 2.76 open rear. I wish I had a digital camera to show you the picture of the 300foot long smoking burnout I have! Then I went with 2 1/4 dual exhaust, 3.91 SureGrip. But never changed the stock exhaust manifolds. The heavy car had great accelleration but was limited to 6000 rpm because of the stock heads and no headers. Still, I believe in thier matched system and would definetly recommend it. My car still spun the tires at the drags but ran a 15.5 at 90 mph. Headers and some smoothing of the heads, especially on the intake side would help alot. In a lighter car you could even go with their Performer RPM for some better top end. Headers are a must. The Performer is only one step bigger than stock and is best for a heavier car or great gas mileage. The Performer RPM requires 360 or 340 heads and adjustable valvetrain according to Edelbrock. I just sold my 318 to a friend who is putting it in a '67 cuda and he is confident it will do 14s. Tim
