I am running a 509 cam in my 400 with only 9.4 to 1 compression. I was wondering if hi-intensity lifters would help with that low of a comp. ratio. It is boggy on the bottom end and I want it to come to life. Also I was thinking of advancing the cam 4 degrees, it is at 2 now. Should I go more?

Thumbs up

It sounds like what you want are bleed down type lifters, not high intensity lifters. You are correct in your conclusion that the .509 cam is wrong for your application. This cam likes about 10.0:1 or higher compression and a 4.10 gear. The bleed down lifter, also known as a variable duration lifter, will bleed off lift and duration at low speeds and help restore your low speed driveability.

The Crane Hi intensity lifters are fast bleed. Act like normal lifters around 2500-3000 rpm. Your application sounds right for the lifters. low compression/big cam. Talk to Joe at Crane. (tech help)
