What's normal for a 727 torqueflight? Mine is in a '69 GTX 440, 4bbl, sure-grip. Will I need a cooler if I drive it hard on the street? How about weekends at the strip? Is a cooler one of those things that will help a little any way you drive? I'm considering a trans. temp gauge, split cooler (trans/power steering), deeper pan (2 qt. extra) and a remote filter assembly mounted somewhere under the hood. I'm just starting out on this car and for some reason my attention was drawn to the tranny first. One more thing, what type of fluid should I put in this after the new pan/filter? Been hearing good stuff about redline but it's kina pricey. Thanx

I agree with a70duster, that you need a cooler. If you have a stall converter a cooler is a must. Type of fluid? I will not use syn. because you can't tell when its burnt. A lot of racers use type f with great luck. I use dextron because thats what A & A transmission advised me to use. Temp? 230 deg f is on ragged edge.

Thanks for the info, how do I tell what fluid it's got in it now? Is there a way to tell type F from Dextron? I think I'm gonna go with the cooler but now I have to figure out were to put it.
