Gees They have a large enuff selection of plug wires and looms looking for advice is it worth the 65 extra to go with 10mm or is it just one of those big is good bigger must be better.

I was told by the local speedshop owner that the only thing that is bigger is the insullation. Some of the better ones have lower resistance insides. I opted for the 8.8mm Accel 300+ Race wire. I would have gotten MSD but the only color you can get is Red, and I wanted black. The boot ends are another thing to look at. The MSD sparkplug boots are really long and wouldn't fit in my B body car. Also the distributor boots can vary from straight up to 90 degrees. I had the 14 dollar Accel 7mm yellow wires first and the sparkplug boots were short and fit well, and I didn't notice any change in performance when I changed to the 8.8 low resistance wires at all! And the 8.8 wires were 65 dollars!

I had accel 8mm and i switched to the new Holley 11mm and they are awesome, definitly better idle and little throttle response! Worht $100

There really isn't a difference in the wires; because of the way the insulator is made, there won't be a voltage breakdown (where the power jumps through the insulator to a ground) regardless of the thickness under normal voltages. If you for some reason have a inductor that puts out higher current/voltage than normal or if the gaps on your plugs are larger than normal, the wider wire will be needed. However, with a thicker insulator, the wire won't be pinched as easily, so the wires may last longer. However, since the wires are so much more expensive for only a mild lengthening of the time that they'll last, I'd go for 7.5mm or even 7mm (that's what I use on my 318).

I also run the Accel $14 wires. As long as it takes more voltage to jump the spark through the wire insulation to ground than it does across the plug gap, it won't misfire. The gain from the more expensive wire sets will be long term durability, abrasion resistance, and looks. If you don't abuse the wires, you will probably not see a noticeable power gain with more expensive wires.

My understanding is the insulation is the big deal.I use the Moroso spiral core wires and have had zero problems with them. The set on my Road Runner is 12 yrs old.

The higher the RPM you take the motor the more important the insulation and the wires resistance become.

Thanks for the advice went with the accel 9000 series 8.8mm extreme temp wires $69.00 from what you all have said they seemed to be a good match.
