I was wondering if anybody out there has built a 340 with a 360 crank. KB hypertech makes pistons for this combination. However, the quench pistons that produce 9.5:1 compression require that the rod be narrowed to 1 inch. The idea of doing any narrowing to a rod sounds crazy, especally if you want to spin the engine 6000 rpm's. Anyway, any suggestions or imput would be greatly appreiceated.

Have the 360 cranks mains turned down to the 340 size(use 340 bearings now). Use any 360 piston, I suggest the KB107. Now your original 340 bore is 4.04 which is a .040" overbore for a 360. Use the 4.070" piston and have your block takes +.030" to match. remember this is a cast crank, plenty strong but externally balanced. With new pistons, have it rebalanced. Couple this with a fresh set of pocket ported heads, RPM intake, 750 Holley or Carter(my choice) and a good cam(MP .484" a good choice, second choice would be the Edelbrock.480" RPM cam) and you'll have a thumper of a street motor! This will make 400 h.p.
