Me again. My neighbor,Who professes to know everything there is to know about mopars tells me I must swap my torsion bars to at least small block ones or the car will be so squirrely that I won't be able to keep it on the road.I estimate it will produce about 420ish H.P. when complete. Also thanks for the replies to the steering knuckle problem.I'm gonna leave it alone.

I have heard this as well, but I left my 6 cylinder torsion bars in. The car isn't the most comfortable to ride in but it doesn't get squirely. I have severe tire spin but it stays straight as long as your going straight when you hit the gas. If your not straight when you hit it then look out cause it just goes all over the road. I estimate my duster to be 500+ hp and haven't had any trouble. A couple of side notes, the front does sit very low with the 383's weight and /6 torsion bars so its only good for cruising and drag racing no road-racing type stuff, and I only have 295/50 tires so there isn't much for the pavement to bite and that may cause the car to stay straight(bigger tires may cause it to slide around a bit). Keep the questions coming this is why Mopar set this thing up! :-)

My 383/440 Dart has 340 bars in it(it was a original 340 car)but I'm going to put in /6 bars this year.(mine is drag racing only)What you put in your car depends on what you will use the car for.I'd leave in the /6 bars and try it and if you don't like it put in a set of different bars.Torsion bars are unwound coil springs, and they have a spring rate too,so if you decide to change that will help in your selection.

I have a Valiant with a 440 in it and six cylinder torsions. I also run the 2800# SS springs with a spring relocation kit. The front end is set up with @ 1 inch of travel off the bumpstops. It runs 9.66 and is occasionly street driven. It hooks great on a 28x10.5 slick and goes straight. I dialed in as much caster as possible, even using offset upper control bushings and moving the K member forward @1/2 inch.I couldn't ask for more from stock.
