This gas tank is new when I tried to put gas in
the seal around the sending unit was seeping so I
put a new gasket and cam lock on it,it did not have a gasket and cam lock when I bought it at a swap meet I tried an old one first. The new stuff
solved that problem. Now I've put the first ten gallons of gas in the tank alls well. But the gauge is not working.I hope I got this right ,one of the replies mentioned to disconnect the wire at the sending unit and ground it with the key on,when I did this the gauge slowly registered full. Also a post mentioned to try a test light at the wire at the sending unit when I did this the light was not very bright and it was flashing,
What is all of this trying to tell me ,is the gauge at the dash ok ,is the sending unit {which is brand new} at fault. Or is the float,as was also mentioned in a reply,at fault.
Whatever it takes I wouldn't want to be with out a gas gauge. Thanx Ken G.

First, for continuity of the post, it is best if you find the original post and put all followups there. As you didn't do this, I only have the basic information from your most current post.

Based on the information provided - Grounding sending wire and the gauge went to full, this shows that the wiring and gauge are alright.

Was the wire grounded on the frame or on the tank, for that test? If it was grounded on the tank, you have good ground to the tank and you have a faulty sender(in the tank). If you grounded to the frame, try the test again to the tank to prove that it is grounded OK.

Gromski,
Did you also install the jumper clip assembly from the metal chasis fuel line to the fuel tank sending unit pickup tube?
