I am going to take the V-6 out of my '92 DAKOTA and replace it with a 318 from a smashed up'92 DAKOTA. This engine was low mileage when it was pulled but it sat for about 4 years before I got it. I have torn it down and fully rebuilt it. My problem is that 7 of the 8 injectors have froze up. I have tried to clean them with carb cleaner but they still are froze solid. Does anybody know what the difference is between the injectors in the V-6 and the V-8. They have different part numbers but they look identical right down to the color of the plastic connector. If they are the same I am going to get two more for a V-6 and use my old injectors. ANY SUGESTIONS?

Just a guess, but I'm gonna say the 318's injectors allow more fuel to flow. Could this be?

If you have the money to spare (who does these days) here's something to think about: matched fuel injectors. I have heard that there can be as much as 20% variance in the airflow ratios between stock factory fuel injectors. There are a couple of places that sell matched sets for around 400 bucks.
Of course you could always get high pressure (like 24 psi) flowed and blueprinted for under 450 . . . Good luck on your project. |
