Thumbs up

You read correctly. Chrysler Australia built the Valiant Charger with the option of an inline six (265 Hemi), with triple sidedraught webbers, good for a conservatively reated 310 horses, good for a flat 14 second quarter pass with a four speed bolted behind it. Slants are good, Hemi's even better!!!!

There is a forum on Delphi for the Australian Chryslers. You might be able to find some info there, They have quite a bit of info about the Hemi six. These things really move for a six banger. cruzerjd

Cool

Oh yeah - the OZ HEMI SIX PACKS. The cars that I and my mates grew up with.

The only sixes that had the V8 dudes running
scared on the street ! These engines in modified form were superfast out of the hole
and only revability/reliability and lack of hardcore parts impeded their potetntial.

A mate hade one in his AP6 Valiant (1966 four door Signet) with triple Webers, Solid cam, 12.1 comp and Powerglide adapted, running 11.90's @115 mph. Not bad for a nat asp 6 banger !

Someone I know has developed an Aluminium head and is in the throes of testing. More info on a later post.

PS: Fantastic chat site for us Mopar starved
guys from Down Under !

Cool

Very cool indeed. Now Australian Chargers were also available with the 318, the 340, which was called the E55 Charger (although it came mostly only with an auto), and the 360 - more of a torque moster than an outright performer in these cars. A good sight for pics and info is http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~stevenic.htm
This fellow's got a cool Valiant indeed. But lets not forget the Slant Sixes either. You guise in the States tend to pay out on them a bit, but when they were released in the Valiant over here in 61 (dressed up Signet), they had almost double the horsepower compared to there nearest rivals (Holden[GM] and Ford). If any you guise now homepages on how to get one hooking, let us know!!
