I need to find a source for reman. cylinder heads for a "68" 383. I need some with hard valve seats and would prefer a set with the small combustion chamber. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

THERE ARE COMPANYS IN MOPAR PERFORMANCE, IN THE BACK PAGES THAT SELL THE HEADS YOU WANT. THEY ARE THE 915 CASTINGS. THE CASTING IS IN THE HEAD AROUND THE ROCKER ARM MOUNTS IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE 2780915 AND THOSE HEADS WERE ON 383 FOR THE 67 YEAR ONLY TO MY BELIEF. THEY USED THE 2843906(906) FROM 68-70. IF YOU HAVE EITHER CASTING AND A MACHINE SHOP CAN REBUILD THEM THAN DO IT THAT WAY.

Don't forget that the '68 & '69 383s used a positive deck height(top of pistons rise above top of block). If you use closed chambered heads on these blocks, you will have piston to head interface.
You can either use a spacer gasket or have the pistons machined, to prevent this problem. ------------------ Ed - MoPower '96 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT CC 360 4X4 '68 Charger 383-4 |
