Have a pile of junk 360s,broken one way or another, we have spent many hours in tear downs.have not yet experience any problem with cracking in that area. we also modify extensively our rear main cap without any problems.

Avenger thanks for the info. I have saved the block with a little line honing and a new cap. The old cap however was definitly cracked and ready come apart at some point in the near future. I also sent the crank out to be checked for cracks just in case it is the culprit causing the cracks. Who knows the crank itself may be cracked, I have seens this on external balance motors before.
Thanks again!

I damaged the rear main on a 360 I have when the crank cracked at the rear throw. It turned the bearing black and caused the cap to go out of round. A new crank, line hone and bearings and I was back in business.

340 king thanks for the info. The machine shop has the block and the crank, and they are checking the crank for cracks and they are going to line hone the block.

I bet you are correct that I will need another crank as well.
Thanks for your help

Default main cap ?

No word on the cause yet for the rear main cap starting to crack.

I am betting the cast crank is cracked and thats what caused it.

Right now I have got the machine shop blues.

I dropped the block and crank of 2 weeks ago and I have called to check on in last Thursday and they have not touched it and did not have any info for me.

If I dont hear from them tomorrow (which I wont) I will be driving out there and see what the H#%L is going on.

If the shop had told me it was gonna be two weeks or more before they could get to it I could understand but they should have said so upfront.
