i had a little qestion about 383 blocks. i have a bare 383 block and i want alot of power out of it and i thought like the chevy
396 for more power the get it machined to fit a 454 crank in it and did not know if you can put a 440 crank into a 383. and if you have any other tips to help me on my way that would be helpful. |

It can be done, Muscle motors offers a kit for the job. The '451' based on the 400 block is more common, and parts are more readily available than for the 383 based '426'. Check Todds links for more information about the RB crank to B-block stuff:www.bpli.com/toddlnk.htm

I have a 383 with a 440 crank in it thats .030 over, that makes it a 431 and it revs real fast and pulls hard.
