rear main seal
To start with you DONT want to use a rope seal,hopefully you have a machine shop in your area that has an old timer that runs it,someone like this will know how to cross reference a modern 2 piece rear seal for your app,if you dont email me with exact engine info and id #s,I do have an old timer here,not that a rope seal wont work but they are a source of friction(drag) and unless youve put quite a few in you risk breaking the block,yes breaking the block,there stubborn,difficult etc,you really need some one who knows the tricks.If you use a 2 piece make sure you coat the outer half with sealent,only use "The Right Stuff"(avail at napa)use this on your every engine need and I guarantee it will never leak,pm me if you need me to research it for you ,.......PRO......

rear main seal replace
Dear PRO;
Thank you for your information. I bought a new rear main seal from vapinc.com and they told me it was made of a modern rubber material, superior to the old seal material. I'll holler if I get into trouble. Thanks again. |
